The old site
The new one
The new design promotes established brands with a central emphasis.
Imagery uses people in dynamic poses. A color palette (with different
colors for different sections is introduced through rollover graphics.
The designer created graphic header elements to be used in a consistent manner in the right column. She also had to create standard treatments for multiple levels of navigation.
Each major product section used a different color selected through many constituent review cycles. Although most of the site is very text-heavy, dynamic images are used on major sections to draw site visitorsin and convey a friendly and up-to-date atmosphere.
Because we were using Plumtree software (and a beat version of the newest version at that,) we had very little options regarding visual design. There was only a small area of the page where we had any amount of control.
This is closest to the version that is currently being developed.
I don’t want to claim credit as the visual designer for any of these examples; that is not my role. I do, however, collaborate with them. As experience lead I work with the designers as a creative director, helping them design solutions that fit within our project’s guidelines.
